We believe that everyone who comes to St. Mary's deserves the very best we can offer - and that includes the children! It's a big world out there and children face some really difficult issues. While they are at St. Mary's we aim to help them meet Jesus, make friends and face life's issues.

Children are particularly welcome at our 9.30am and 4.00pm services. The first part of the service is for everyone together, during which there may be children's songs, dramas or quizzes. The children then join their own groups:

Bubbles 0-5yrs
Splash! Y1-3
Xtreme Y4-6

And both services do something a little different on the first Sunday. At 9.30am the service is all-age and everyone worships together and then eats together. At 4pm we have Messy Church which is a fun way of being church designed especially for families with craft activities, competitive challenges, celebrating God and a tasty tea.

Once a month at both services there is a Communion service where children are welcome. Outside term time our services are designed for all ages.

Got a baby or toddler? Need to chill?

Oasis provides an opportunity for parents and others caring for babies and toddlers to get together on the first and third Thursday in the month between 9.30 and 11.00. We offer tea/coffee, cake and good company. There are toys for the children and a Bible story/puppets/rhyme time between 10.30 and 11.00.

We are around to offer help and support but responsibility for the children's safety remains with parents and carers.

St Mary's offers Oasis out of love to support parents and others caring for very young children. There is no charge but a donation of 50p for tea, coffee or cake to cover costs would be appreciated.

Once A Year

St. Mary's Holiday Club

In August each year we welcome about 40 children for five mornings of mad fun and laughter.

Additional Needs?

We have a number of people in the church who work with children with additional needs during the week. We want all children to feel welcome at St. Mary's. If your child has additional needs, please contact us first so that we can be ready to give them any extra support they need from their very first visit to church.

We take our responsibility to protect our children very seriously. All our activities are covered by the Church of England's child protection guidelines and all our regular helpers are DBS checked.

If you want to publicly thank God for the gift of your child and acknowledge the part God’s love has to play in your and their life, we would welcome the opportunity to chat to you about this.

This Week

During this current period all Sunday Services and Midweek Activities that would usually take place in the church building have been suspended until further notice.  Please do join us for online activities.
